Da’wah and Islamic Studies (DIS)
Mission of the Program
The department seeks to produce graduates who are academically, culturally, morally and missionary distinctive. It also endeavors to provide its graduates with a good basic knowledge of Islamic law in general and Fiqh Sciences and Fundamentals in particular. This is in addition to providing them with the necessary qualifications to pursue a career in teaching, as a missionary, or in Islamic shari'a courts. The program also aims at supplying the society with qualified academics, specialists and experts who meet the religious and educational needs of the people in the field of Islamic Shari'a and Fiqh in particular and in legal work in general.
Vision of the Program
The department’s vision springs from the strong faith in the uniqueness of the Islamic nation, religion, culture and civilization. It also springs from the need of the Islamic Nation and humanity in general for the rise of this civilization, to shine anew, in all fields of life. This civilization has a distinctive vision, as it calls for mercy for all people and honor for all human beings. This civilization also rests on a divine revelation and can offer solutions for all problems that face people nowadays in the different fields of life.
Objectives of the Program
The most important goals that the Faculty of Da’wah and Islamic Studies is concerned are the following:
1. An Islamic university carres out all its programs and curricula on the basis of Islamic heritage and culture can distinguish between the lawful and forbidden.
2. This department is distinguished by taking the Arabic language as a medium of instruction which is the language of the Qur’an and Sunnah and the basic sources of all Islamic sciences, such as Aqidah, Tafsir, hadith, jurisprudence.
3. The department also emphasizes English language which is use to teach some compulsory subjects since it is the language of all modern sciences, so students of this university will know this language properly.
The Program Educational Objectives (PEO)
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of B.A. (Honors) in Da’wah and Islamic Studies are the statements that describe the expected achievements of graduates in their career and professional life within the first few (3 to 5) years after graduation. The PEOs are guided by interest of program stakeholders, global and local needs, the mission and vision of the Institution, long-term goals, etc. These are expected to evolve continuously in line with the needs and expectations of local employers, industry, R&D advisors, and alumni. The PEOs of B.A. (Honors) in ALL are as follows:
After successful completion of four-year honours in Da’wah and Islamic Studies:
PEO-O1 To prepare a generation that specializes in Da’wah and Islamic education, capable of carrying a trust of knowledge among the peoples of the Islamic nation
PEO-O2 To direct student related talent students in the field of preaching and interpreting the Holy Qur’an, Hadith and other nearby talents.
PEO-O3 To provide the graduate with the necessary skills in light of the modern means that qualify him to compete in the job market.
Admission Requirements
- Total GPA 6.00 in Dakhil (compulsory) & Alim/HSC but scoring not less than GPA 2.50 in any individual examination; OR
- Minimum 'Zayyid' in Dawra-e-Hadith (Takmil) degree.

Program Outcomes (POs)
PO-O1 Graduates specialized in various Islamic sciences.
PO-O2 Qualified Islamic scholars and preachers who shall be able to work and contribute in the reformation and renovation of Muslim society.
PO-O3 Spreading the authentic aqida and belief and highlighting the balanced and moderate approach based on the understanding of Salfe Salehin.
PO-O4 Good citizens who will contribute in the revival of Islamic civilization.
PO-O5 A number of Islamic scholars to carry out community reform and combat all religious and social corruptions.
Duration
The B.A.(Honors) Program normally takes four academic years (i.e. 8 Semesters) to complete. Each academic year is divided into 2 Semesters having duration of 15-week Lecture Period for each semester. The Mid-term Examination will be held after conducting classesfor6 weeks. The Semester End Examination (SEE) will be held through completion of classes for 9 weeks after Mid-term Examination. In order to graduate, total 140 credit hours have to be undertaken and completed by astudent during 8 semesters. By registering a greater number of courses in regular semesters, students may also complete their graduation studies within at least three academic years (i.e. 6 Semesters) of regular studentship. However, a student may be allowed to complete their graduation studies in the University within maximum of six academic years (i.e.12 semesters).
Admission Test
Application for admission to BA (Hons.) in Da’wah and Islamic Studies shall be invited through an announcement in the National/Local Dailies and IIUC website www.iiuc.ac.bd twice a year. The deserving candidates have to apply through IIUC website www.iiuc.ac.bd or web link https://www.iiuc.ac.bd/home/apply-online. Students are admitted through a competitive written test. Usually questions paper are designed as semi broad & MCQ Type. Marks allocation of admission test are:

Calculation of GPA and CGPA
GPA: Grade Point Average (GPA) is computed by dividing the total grade point earned by the number of credit hours attempted in a particular semester.
CGPA: Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is computed by dividing the total grade point earned by the total number of credit hours attempted at the diploma courses up to that point of time.
Achieving minimum GPA in each semester
A student shall have to obtain minimum GPA 2.00 in each semester.
Achieving minimum GPA in for awarding degree
A student shall have to obtain minimum CGPA 2.50 for awarding degree.
